We're pleased to announce that PTC Mathcad Prime 11 is available now! It delivers numerous productivity and functionality enhancements so users can accurately solve, analyze, document, and share all their engineering calculations faster than ever. Learn more details in the blog post, What’s New in PTC Mathcad Prime 11?
But first, we thought you might like to know more about how we chose the enhancements we did and why. So, we sat down with PTC Product Management Director, Andy McGough to get his perspective on our latest release.
When we plan a release of Mathcad, we make sure to consider updates across the different functional areas in the product – there needs to be a balance between the way we calculate the math and the way we display it. Additionally, we tailor our prioritization process heavily on user input, though we have a good idea what we want the product to do. Ultimately, it’s the customer who knows best what they need.
In Mathcad Prime 11, we continue to include updates across the different aspects of the product, as well as cater to both recent and veteran users of Mathcad. The ability to create a custom unit system, a highly requested legacy feature, will resonate with long-time Mathcad users and prove invaluable to recent converts. The new manual calculation mode gives users greater control over when and what to calculate. We’ve enhanced the symbolic engine and expanded Mathcad’s calculation capabilities with features like binary, octal, and hexadecimal support, along with advanced result formatting for exponential, complex, and zero thresholds. Mathcad Prime 11 marks a significant leap forward for all users.
It’s really great to be able to add the custom unit system functionality to the product—a favorite on the wish list for many Mathcad users. I know many long-time users of Mathcad will use that immediately. Mathcad Prime 11 introduces several valuable features legacy Mathcad users will be familiar with, including region border display for clarity and the ability to calculate and format binary, octal, and hexadecimal expressions, a key addition from legacy Mathcad. The new vec() function enables users to create simple vectors, addressing a direct request from Mathcad customers. Additionally, updates to the legacy worksheet converter now support the conversion of password-protected areas. This release focuses on meeting the key needs of long-time Mathcad users by incorporating essential functionality.
If you’re new to Mathcad and need a reliable way to document engineering calculations, Mathcad Prime 11 is designed to meet your needs. With features optimized for recording and managing engineering knowledge, its latest updates make it an excellent choice for professionals.
Mathcad Prime 11 incorporates customer-driven updates that benefit both new and experienced users. Notably, it introduces Python scripting for advanced controls, modernizing the feature with a widely-used programming language familiar to many engineers. Designed for easy adoption, Mathcad Prime lets you quickly create and document complex engineering calculations. Download the trial and experience it for yourself!
If Mathcad Prime doesn’t yet include what you want it to include, it’s not because we aren’t listening to you, or that we think what you want shouldn’t be in the product. We receive hundreds of requests for features to add to Mathcad, and we prioritize those based on what most customers want. Just because it’s not in this release doesn’t mean it won’t be in the next release.
The best way to get your needs across to the team is to add your requirement to the Mathcad Ideas site on the PTC Community. You can also provide direct feedback to Mathcad subject matter experts, sales representatives, or technical support.
All that feedback is funneled to me and the team and reviewed for inclusion in future releases. We don’t just like to get your feedback; we rely on it to make sure the product development is going in the direction you need it to.
I’m thrilled for customers to experience Mathcad Prime 11 and welcome feedback on its new features. Don’t miss the upcoming release webinar, where I’ll share an in-depth look at what’s included in this update!
